Potluck Christmas Party

Hello my lovelies!! (Sounding like proper blogger now).

So, as the holiday season approached (actually probably long before) I decided that it would lovely to get all my girlfriends from school back together for a little bit of a Christmas dinner party and catch up. I was so incredibly lucky to find an amazing group of girls in secondary school, but, as it happens, we all went our separate ways at the end of it and are now scattered around Europe.

When I decided that I wanted to host a dinner party, I thought the best idea would be to ask everyone to bring a dish. So I set about organising!

Step One: Ask the girls when everyone was finished up and back home, and pick a date that suits most.

Step Two: Suggest the idea of a potluck dinner at mine, and ask who can make it. Once I've got the numbers, decide who is doing appetisers/sides, mains and desserts. I was expecting around 8-10 (including myself) so decided to discount the 2 maybes and split it so we had 4 appetisers/sides, 2 mains and 2 desserts. Also made sure to remind everyone to try cater to dietary requirements if possible, as our group is super awkward (I'm dairy free, we have 3 vegetarians, 1 vegan, 1 gluten free and 1 coconut allergy!)

Step Three: Decide on a dress code. As an avid party planner, I had 2 visions in my head. Either all glam, boujee (but broke) bitches, or tacky xmas jumpers. I put a poll forward to the gals and boujee bitches won 100% of the vote!

Step Four: Get the table ready! I pushed together our dining table with a fold out table to create a big table for my 8 guests. I put out plates & cutlery and put a Christmas cracker at each place.

Step Five: Have fun! Put on the tunes, reheat any of your guests dishes as needed and enjoy your time together. I really enjoyed getting to catch up with gals and believe me, the tea was spilled!

Hope this has inspired you to do something similar, though I know Christmas has passed, this can be done any time of year!
